The STARS Tutoring Program Offers The Following:

The STARS Peer Tutoring Program offers free, one-on-one tutoring or group tutoring for students taking courses in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, and technology.  Tutoring is provided by graduate and undergraduate peer tutors who have been trained in effective tutoring techniques in accordance with College Read-ing and Learning Association Guidelines.

The center also offers:

• Student Success Seminars

No, tutoring is free for any student taking a mathematics or science course

What are your hours of operation?

8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Preparing For Your Session:

1. Review and attempt all homework problems and complete what you can do on your own
2. Determine what you do understand and what you don’t understand
3. Prepare questions for your tutor

It is appropriate to ask your tutor to:

1. Explain difficult concepts to you. Suggest strategies for carrying out problems.
2. Assist you in applying concepts and direct you to other academic resources when appropriate.

It is not appropriate to ask your tutor to:

1. Do your homework for you.
2. Tell you what’s going to be on an exam.
