Career Services Career Services provided to students and alumni include:
Student Employment: Part-time work for full time students. NSU CS provides assistance to students seeking off-campus opportunities. Placement contracts are maintained with employers throughout the Hampton Roads area. Job listings are posted on the employment board and within the job announcement books in CS. Job listings/announcements are posted daily. Student Employment, On-Campus Recruitment, Off-Campus Referrals: NSU CS has developed a network of employers who contact us when they have job vacancies. The employers are provided resumes of qualified applicants from the CS credentials files. To be eligible for this service, students must be registered and have a credentials file in CS. Internships: NSU CS provides campus wide coordination of career related work experiences for students. Work may be done for a academic credit with departmental approval and may be paid or non-paid. Internships are available for both the academic school year and the summer. Available internships are posted in the internship notebook with CS. Job Vacancy Announcements: Full-time and part-time CS opportunities are posted in binders and on the CS bulletin board. Listings are updated daily. Credentials File: With CS assistance, students develop and maintain credential files within CS. Included in credentials files are five copies of the student's resume printed on quality resume paper. Also included are three letters of recommendation and an office copy of the student's transcript. Resumes from credentials files are provided to employers participating in the off-campus referral program. CS will mail credentials files to prospective employers on the request of students and graduates. Programs Job Search Orientation: Begin your job search with an orientation visit to NSU CS. Learn about winning job search planning and strategies. Resume Writing Workshops: Assistance is provided to individuals and groups covering the basic principles of developing an effective and personalized resume. Interview Workshops: Assistance is provided to individuals and groups on the job interviewing process and the principles of effective interviewing. Mock interviews are conducted to prepare students for real job interviews. Career Service Orientation: Orientations are presented to classes and other groups on career development/planning and the assistance provided by CS staff.
